Practice 6
Coming Soon: Videos of Karl explaining this practice in depth.
This practice consists of two distinct components, related in the sense that they support our evolution through visualization, or the creation of “thought forms” which influence material reality.
The first component invites us to look at ourselves realistically, to identify the areas where it would be good to become more mature and more constructive in our attitudes, and then actually visualize ourselves as the person we will be when that growth process is substantially further along. Note that there is considerable overlap between this and the “meditation with the intention to create” component of the “Connecting With Higher Energies And Consciousness” practice (coming up next in the sequence).
The second component – less analytical and less specific – is based on the idea that the ego is a split-off portion of our greater consciousness (i.e., higher self), focused on negotiating this level of reality, and largely unaware of the greater whole to which it belongs. We are invited to visualize the ego yielding its boundaries and allowing itself to be infused with the higher self. As part of the exercise, we can try to sense and relax our ego’s “muscles,” so as to become softer and more receptive. This is a relatively easy practice, which can be engaged in whenever one isn’t busy, and a great way to practice humility and trust. If you open yourself in meditation to discovering other related visualizations which might help this process of integration along, they may come to you.
Note that this is different from visualization focused on changing external circumstances, such as using the law of attraction to bring certain things or people or experiences into our lives. The Way of the Higher Self channels the power of visualization into changing who we are – partly because who we are is spiritually more important than external circumstances, and partly because the most effective way to change our outer circumstances is to change ourselves. If we change ourselves, we change the energy we put out into the Universe, and therefore we change the way the Universe responds to us.
In other words, The Way of the Higher Self suggests, rather than just visualizing yourself with a particular achievement or reward, visualize yourself:
• becoming the kind of person you would have to be in order to generate that achievement or reward organically.
• opening to the higher-self energies which could support you in that evolution.
